Leschaco chooses WAVE BL to power its fully digital house bills

PHILADELPHIA CREAM, November 9, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Taking another step forward in a trend that has transformed the shipping industry, Leschaco, a global logistics services provider with over 140 years of experience, has decided to digitize its house bill transactions (HBL). To do this, he partnered with WAVE BL, a leading provider of secure digital document solutions.

In a typical digital HBL transaction, Leschaco receives a master bill of lading (MBL) on the WAVE BL platform, then issues multiple house bills of lading (HBL) to each exporter in the transaction. These, in turn, receive their HBLs and transfer ownership to the importers. Each importer sells its HBL to Leschaco, and Leschaco sells the MBL.

Since every eBL transfer is completed digitally in minutes on the WAVE BL platform, entire document transactions can be completed in hours rather than the weeks that paper-based transactions can take. Part of the simplicity of these transactions stems from the fact that WAVE BL allows all parties to connect on a single unified network.

Leschaco’s move to digital BLs was driven by the unreliable nature of paper BLs, especially during times of instability. Courier delays delayed freight deliveries and finance processes, and the tendency for paper BLs to get lost or misplaced had long been a problem for customers. By adopting WAVE BL’s electronic BLs, Leschaco was able to eliminate these inefficiencies as well as benefit from WAVE BL’s anti-fraud protections and exceptional customer experience.

Digitalization is rapidly transforming the global shipping industry. Leschaco’s pioneering use of electronic house bills – one of the first in the industry – is a further demonstration of how digitization can replace any type of paper-based communication.

CEO of WAVE BL, Noam Rosenfeldadds, “Leschaco’s use of electronic HBLs is an exciting step. Digital is the direction the industry is heading in, and we pride ourselves on offering an easy-to-use solution tailored to the needs of the industry. One of our main priorities is to make the transition to eBL as easy as possible, with full support every step of the way. » Konstantin ConradCDO of the Leschaco Group added: “Fast and secure transport of trade documents is an essential part of the supply chain. Digitization is becoming increasingly important. Leschaco was therefore looking for a digital solution and chose WAVE BL as a supplier. The Leschaco eBL solution will increase our customers’ satisfaction and make our documentation more efficient and sustainable.”
