Trial for drug trafficking; Cape Breton Court Report August 19, 2022


SYDNEY, NS — Provincial and Supreme Court trial dates have been set for a Glace Bay woman facing drug and tobacco charges.
Jean Marie Pink, 57, of Sharpes Lane, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking Ritalin and possession of money knowing it was obtained by the crime.
A trial in the Supreme Court on those charges is now scheduled for November 29, 2023.
Pink is also charged with possession of tobacco without paying tax, possession of tobacco without regulatory markings and transporting tobacco without a bill of lading.
A trial in provincial court for those offenses is now scheduled for October 12. The offenses allegedly took place on September 13, 2021 in Glace Bay.
Pink is pursuing his conditional release.

Second trial for sexual offenses

A Reserve Mines man has been granted a second Supreme Court trial date for sexual offences.
Derrick Bradley Shibinette, 47, now faces trial in the Supreme Court on charges of sexual assault, sexual interference, sexual exploitation and incitement to sexual touching.
The offenses were allegedly committed between November and December 2020.
Shibinette, who is pursuing her conditional release, is now due to stand trial, judge alone, on January 29, 2024.
Shibinette is also due to stand trial in Supreme Court on April 11 and 12, 2023, on a single count of sexual assault which allegedly took place between June and August 2020 at Reserve Mines.

Trial for sexual offenses

A Supreme Court trial date has been set for a Sydney man charged with sex offences.
Sean Francis O’Connell, 38, of Thomas Street, is charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and child luring.
The offenses are believed to have been committed in Sydney in August 2013.
O’Connell, who is pursuing his conditional release, is now due to stand trial on October 17, 2023. O’Connell has elected a trial by judge alone.
